Anche quest’anno sono tornato a Fotografia Europea, a Reggio Emilia. La manifestazione è giunta alla sua ventunesima edizione e il tema scelto per 2026 era “Ghosts of the Moment” (“Fantasmi del quotidiano”).
Il festival si articola in otto sedi espositive sparse per la città, ma ancora una volta mi sono lasciato trattenere dalla sua sede principale, i Chiostri di San Pietro. I loro ambienti austeri, segnati dal tempo e privi di intonaco, continuano ad esercitare su di me un fascino particolare. In questi spazi le undici mostre ospitate trovavano una collocazione perfetta, valorizzate anche dal raffinato lavoro curatoriale di Tim Clark e Luce Lebart, che hanno saputo creare un percorso coerente e coinvolgente.

This year, once again, I visited Fotografia Europea in Reggio Emilia. It was the festival’s twenty-first edition, and the theme for 2026 was “Ghosts of the Moment” (“Fantasmi del quotidiano”).
The festival unfolds across eight venues throughout the city, but once again I found myself drawn to the festival’s main venue, the Chiostri di San Pietro. Its raw, unplastered spaces, marked by the passage of time, continue to exert a particular fascination on me. The setting provided an ideal backdrop for the eleven exhibitions on display, allowing each of them to breathe and resonate. Much of this was also due to the thoughtful curatorial work of Tim Clark and Luce Lebart, who succeeded in creating a coherent and engaging exhibition experience.

Ook dit jaar ben ik weer naar Fotografia Europea geweest in Reggio Emilia. Het was de 21e editie, en het tema van dit jaar was “Ghosts of the moment” (“Fantasmi del quotidiano”).
Het festival is verspreid over acht locaties, maar ik ben blijven hangen in de hoofdlocatie, de Chiostri di San Pietro, die me ook nu weer wist te betoveren met haar ruwe, ongepleisterde ruimtes, waarin de maar liefst elf mini exposities zo goed tot hun recht kwamen. Niet in het minst dankzij het sublieme werk van de curatoren Tim Clark en Luce Lebart.
